You could even say it glows!

Turning on North Tyneside’s festive lights is a job that would brighten up any child’s Christmas, and a five-year-old from Wallsend can’t wait to do it this year.
After winning a North Tyneside Council competition to design a festive light, Kacey Dobson will help to switch on the display in North Shields on Friday, November 21.
And even more exciting for the Battle Hill Primary School pupil, her elf design will be one of the lights featured in this year’s display.
Ahead of the event, Kacey said: “I drew an elf because it reminds me of Christmas and I saw it in the film Polar Express. I’m really excited to turn on my light and the others.”
North Tyneside Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn added: “Congratulations to Kacey on this wonderful achievement – her design is very sweet and is sure to bring festive cheer to the borough. I look forward to meeting her and her family as they join me in switching on the lights.
“The annual event is always a lovely evening and I would like to invite residents to come along to it, or to visit one of the other town centres, which will also be sparkling with Christmas lights.
“After speaking to residents, we’ve made sure we’ve got loads of fantastic events and activities happening across the borough over the festive period. I’m sure everyone will enjoy them.”
The fun gets underway at this year’s switch-on, which is taking place in Northumberland Square, at 4.30pm, when local schools and community choirs will be entertaining the crowds with festive favourites. The lights will be switched-on at around 5.30pm.
The event is part of North Tyneside Council’s Winter Festival, which this year includes an ice rink in Tynemouth Station; Christmas buskers in town centres; free festive film screenings; a Santa Roadshow; several Christmas markets and lots more. The ‘Design a Light’ competition takes place each year and entries are now being accepted to feature in the 2015 display.
The drawing competition, running since 2007, is open to anyone aged 18 and under living in North Tyneside, who would like their festive drawing to light up the borough. The winning design will be the centrepiece of the Council's 2015 display and will take pride of place amongst the Christmas street decorations.
Drawings can be dropped off at any North Tyneside Library or sent to Tom Wilson, Events Team, North Tyneside Council, Quadrant East, Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside, NE27 0BY. Please include your name, address and contact details.
