Y5 have learnt about Maya clothing and weaving techniques. Then made our own God’s eye weaving craft. Today we’ve also played a traditional Mayan game and tried a Mayan hot chocolate!

Year 4 and year 4/5 have recently worked with an Entomolgist from NUSTEM. She brought a huge number of insects with her for the children to observe. They identified how to classify an insect and then had a go at drawing scientific sketches and models of the insects. The children thoroughly enjoyed this and it was made even more special as some parents and grown ups came along to help!

Year 3 have loved learning about plants this half term. Last week, they were exploring the different parts of the flower and how seeds are formed and dispersed. They had a go at being pollinators by transferring pollen from one flower to another. They also had lots of fun finding out how bulrushes disperse their seeds! 🌷🐝

Our eco-warriors were keen to take part in the North Tyneside Learning Trust litter pick challenge; in loving memory of David Bavaird, former High Sherriff for Tyne and Wear and with the infallible support from Wallsend Parks.
We managed an impressive, yet scary, 5 full bin bags from around our school site, but our warriors are always keen to make a difference!
