No Loafing about for Foundation

The Foundation Stage Unit children have been reading the story of The Little Red Hen and over the next week are going to be baking some bread, just like in the story. If you would like to have a go at home here is a quick, simple and tasty recipe! It only takes an hour.

Ingredients:

1 & 1/2 cups of water
1& 1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of honey
3 packets of Easy Bake Dried Yeast (3x7g packets)
2 cups of white bread flour

Preheat oven to 425C

Method

  1. Mix water, honey, salt and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until there is foam on the top.
  2. Knead in flour until no longer sticky.
  3. Put on a baking tray and cover with a towel. Leave for 15 minutes.
  4. Bake in oven for 15 minutes
  5. Eat!
